MISSION: FOCUS
Our focus for 2009 continues to support youth activities; improving and beautifying the environment; and helping to build strong, livable neighborhoods.
In 2009, we granted $50,000 to support the following initiatives in our focus areas:
Supporting youth activities in the community
> SLP youth suffering from domestic violence
> Crisis counseling for SLP teens
> Education, social, and nutritional enrichment to homeless, at-risk, and special needs children
> Backpack, birthday and holiday gifts for disadvantaged children
> Children’s recreational activities
> Enhancements to SLP girls’ softball program
Improving and beautifying the environment
> Art in public and private spaces
> Westwood Hills Nature Center and other green spaces
> Children’s nest egg environmental art project
> City tree planting and education program
Building strong, livable neighborhoods
> Neighborhood outreach programs
> Organization and leadership training
> Involvement on your block and across the city
